Ingredients:                                        


1 kg of pork/beef meat (in cubes with 2.5cm sides)

6 Pita breads

2 tomatoes sliced

4 lemons juice

1/3 teaspoon salt

1/3 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

½ cup of oregano

1 onion in thin slices

6 wooden skewers,

Tzatziki (page 18)



Directions:


That’s the time to learn the preparation process of the famous “Greek Souvlaki”.

Put the meat in the wooden skewers, salt and pepper them. Cook over a barbecue fire, on a skillet or under an oven grill. In the meantime, spread some oil on the pitas and place under the oven grill, browning slightly each side, but not drying them. When the meat is done, dip them in a long glass containing the lemon juice and then holding a pita bread in one hand empty the skewer contents in it removing the skewer. Sprinkle with oregano and salt, add tzaziki, onion, tomatoes and the “souvlaki” is ready


Tip:


You may add French fries as well. It makes the “souvlaki” very tasteful. With two pieces you are full!
